Chatting helps the menopause

A woman reading a book.

All the developments that have occurred in medical science and now women suffering the side effects of the menopause are told . . . chat about it!

Hey, don’t shout at me – I’m just reporting that an article published in BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology found that the most common way of dealing with menopausal symptoms was talking to family and friends.

Another study, published in The Lancet Oncology reports that the side effects of hot flushes and night sweats can be made more bearable by talking about them.  Psychologists at the Institute of Psychiatry at King’s College, London conducted a study amongst women recovering from breast cancer and found that those that attended ‘talking cure group therapy’ coped better with the symptoms of menopause.
