It was claimed yesterday that Sean Flood, a senior nurse, tipped a mentally ill man to the floor, after the patient complained that his wheelchair had been crashed into a bed. The Nursing and Midwifery Council heard how Flood also gave the same patient a time limit to urinate into a bottle. He allegedly said: “If you can’t do it in two minutes, it’s going,” before removing the bottle.
Flood is also accused of taking away the man’s call buzzer, which was used to attract nurses’ attention. The abuse was alleged to take place at the Epinal Way Care Centre in Loughborough in spertember 2007.
Flood is also before the panel in relation to a drink-driving conviction in 1999, and a 2009 conviction for battery. Flood isn’t attending the hearing, and denies the allegations.
The hearing continues.
