Protect your loved ones – the best thing you can do. What could be more important?
We insure our contents, our buildings, our cars but many adults in the UK do not protect those that are most important to us. Is it really the case that it’s more important to insure our possessions that those that we love?
Let us help you protect against financial hardship in the event of death, or someone succumbing to serious illness like cancer, or being unable to work for a long period due to stress or backache . . .
Life assurance will pay out a lump sum in the event of the death of an insured person.
Critical illness will pay out a lump sum in the event of an insured person becoming seriously ill e.g. suffering from cancer or heart disease.
Income protection will pay a monthly sum to help you and your family during a period of being off work due to accident or sickness. The two most common causes of long term absence from work are stress and backache and neither will be helped by having worries about meeting the bills.
Why risk it?
Life assurance will pay out in the event of death. It will also pay out if an insured person becomes terminally ill. This lump sum can be used to pay off a mortgage and ensure that a partner and children do not need to leave their home and can still maintain a satisfactory standard of living if an income earner is no longer there to provide. Obviously a lump sum does nothing to alleviate the grief and trauma of an unexpected death but imagine how much worse it could be if the survivors have money problems caused by a failure to take insurance. Two thirds of adults in the UK do not have life assurance. If you are single and have no dependents – this may make sense – but if you are married or in a stable relationship, or if you have children, it is a risk not worth taking because life assurance is cheap (research shows that it is almost always cheaper than what consumers expect it to be). Use our slider to see what it will cost.
How critical is Critical Illness insurance?
Guess what? The most common reason people give for not taking life assurance is ‘it’ll never happen to me’ i.e. they don’t think they will die prematurely. When the cover is so cheap it’s not a good reason not to protect your loved ones. Even so, people are a lot less confident that they won’t suffer from a serious illness. Critical illness insurance will pay a lump sum in the event of serious illness such as cancer, heart disease or motor neurone disease. People are 7x more likely to claim for critical illness than life assurance (this stands to reason – you are far more likely to become seriously ill than die). In fact, we ran an article recently showing that four in ten (nearly half) of all adults will contract cancer.
Protect your income . . .
With income protection cover. We have written loads of articles about stress – even our kids are stressed these days (groan – what a sad indictment of our society). Stress and backache are the two most common reasons for an extended layoff from work. Of course, we all want to think we are fit and healthy but sadly the trend is going the other way. Stress is on the rise and more of us are putting on weight. Imcome protection is an important part of the protection mix.
Remember our site is the only site that allows you to see the prices of each different element of cover and our slider allows you to keep playing with different types of cover to see what you can have in your budget.
